The fight against the kaiju isn't over just yet! TOHO animation has revealed that the previously announced conclusion arc for Kaiju No. 8 will take the form of a theatrical film titled Kaiju No. 8: The Final Mission, scheduled to open in 2027. Along with the announcement, the studio released a “super teaser” video featuring a striking new visual illustrated by art director Shinji Kimura. The visual carries a rather ominous tagline: “The era of humans is over.” More details about the film, including its exact release date, have yet to be revealed.
A theatrical finale feels like a big moment for a series that has delivered so much monster-sized action! Kaiju No. 8 has given us a great mix of intense battles, humor, and characters worth rooting for, so we're curious to see how the story brings everything together. And with a tagline like that, they're certainly not making it easy for us to wait until 2027. Villagers, are you ready for one last mission?

Star Detective Precure! Film Becomes the Franchise's Highest-Grossing Standalone Movie

The Precure franchise has a new box office champion! Eiga Meitantei Precure! Fushigi na Niwa to Futari no Himitsu (Star Detective Precure! The Movie: The Mysterious Garden and the Secret of 2 People) has officially become the highest-grossing standalone film in the franchise's history. During its first month in Japanese theaters, the movie sold approximately 977,000 tickets and earned around 1.24 billion yen (US$7.8 million), surpassing the previous record set by 2024's Wonderful Precure! The Movie.
The film opened on September 18 and started strong, selling 358,000 tickets and earning 446 million yen in its first three days. The story follows the Detective Precures as they investigate the mysterious “X Mark Incident,” leading them to a beautiful garden threatened by strange little creatures known as Dame Dame and a secret waiting to be uncovered.
It's always exciting to see a Precure movie make this kind of milestone! With 23 main anime entries behind the franchise, reaching a new box office record shows just how much love audiences continue to have for these magical heroines. We also love the detective angle behind this particular adventure; a little mystery mixed with magical-girl action sounds like a fun combination. Congratulations to the Precure team on this record-breaking success!
Uma Musume: Pretty Derby Cancels Los Angeles Concerts Due to Visa Issues!

Unfortunately, fans hoping to see Uma Musume: Pretty Derby live in Los Angeles will have to make other plans. Cygames has officially canceled the franchise's 7th Event World Tour: The Stage concerts, which were scheduled for October 22–23, after the performers were unable to obtain the necessary U.S. visas. Organizers say they worked with everyone involved and explored every possible option to keep the shows on track, but ultimately couldn't make it happen. Refunds will be processed for both in-person and streaming tickets, while the staff are also looking into possible arrangements for “Trainers” who had planned to attend in person. Further details about those arrangements will be shared on the event's website. The tour began in Tokyo in June and was set to visit Los Angeles, London, Seoul, and Yokohama, marking the franchise's first attempt to bring its live musical events to a global audience.
This is genuinely disappointing news, especially for fans who were excited to experience Uma Musume live and for everyone who put time and effort into making the Los Angeles shows happen. The World Tour was a big opportunity to bring the franchise's performers and international fanbase together, so it's unfortunate that circumstances outside the organizers' control brought this stop to an end. We hope the affected Trainers receive clear updates and that the franchise gets another opportunity to bring these performances to U.S. fans in the future.

Recipe Of The Week!
🍙ONIGIRI🍙

Forget ramen. Forget instant noodles. Today, we’re entering the RICE BALL ARC!
If you’ve ever watched an anime and thought, “Wait… why does that little triangle of rice look WAY more delicious than anything in my kitchen?” this one’s for you.
We’re talking ONIGIRI: the humble Japanese rice ball that has somehow become an absolute MVP of anime food.
What You'll Need
Serves: 6 onigiris
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
2 cups Japanese short-grain rice
2½ cups water
1 tsp salt
1 can tuna, drained
2 tbsp mayonnaise
1 tsp soy sauce
1–2 sheets nori (seaweed)
Optional: sesame seeds, furikake, or pickled ginger
🍙 Instructions
Cook the rice: Rinse the rice until the water is mostly clear. Cook with the water according to your rice cooker's instructions. Let it cool until comfortable to handle.
Make the filling: Mix tuna, mayonnaise, and soy sauce in a bowl.
Season your hands: Wet your hands with water and rub a little salt onto your palms.
Shape: Take a handful of warm rice, make a small indentation, and add about 1 tablespoon of tuna filling.
Seal: Cover the filling with more rice and gently form it into a triangle or ball. Don't compact it too aggressively! You want fluffy rice.
Wrap: Add a strip of nori around the bottom or wrap the whole onigiri.
Finish: Sprinkle with sesame seeds or furikake if you like.
Villager Tip
Make several different fillings! Tuna-mayo, salmon, even ground chicken and arrange them on a plate with the nori like a little bento spread.
Also, don’t pack the rice too tightly! Think of onigiri like an anime power-up: strong enough to hold together, but still soft and fluffy on the inside. Gentle hands = elite-tier onigiri.
Anime Connection
Remember those classic Pokémon adventures? Brock famously serves up rice balls during the gang’s travels, although if you grew up watching the English dub, you may remember them being hilariously called “jelly-filled donuts.” The animation, however, very much showed what they really were: delicious little onigiri.
And then there’s Fruits Basket, where onigiri aren't just food, they actually become part of the story. Tohru makes onigiri for the Sohmas, and the rice ball becomes a recurring symbol connected to her character. There are even adorable cat-shaped onigiri involved!
Until next week's recipe, villagers!
