Kaiju No. 8 fans, get ready to spend a little more time with one of the series' most chaotic characters!

A brand-new anime short focusing on Gen Narumi, captain of the Defense Force's First Division, has officially revealed its premiere date. Narumi's Week at Work will begin streaming on September 5 and will run for four episodes, with a new episode arriving every Saturday through September 26.

And yes... this is Narumi we're talking about, so "a week at work" probably isn't going to be as normal as it sounds.

Known as Japan's Strongest Anti-Kaiju Combatant, Narumi is an absolute monster when it comes to fighting kaiju. Unfortunately, his dedication to his actual job seems to be a little more questionable. When he's not skipping meetings or finding ways to avoid office work, he's busy playing online games during his downtime.

But even the strongest man in Japan apparently can't escape the occasional bad day at work.

The short was created by Kizuku Watanabe, creator of the Kaiju No. 8: Relax spinoff manga, with the original anime's staff and Production I.G returning for the project. Crunchyroll will also stream the episodes as they air.

Our take: Honestly, we love when a series takes its ridiculously powerful characters and lets us see their goofy everyday lives. Narumi is already a fan favorite, so getting four episodes dedicated to his chaotic work life sounds like exactly the kind of side story we didn't know we needed.

Madoka Magica fans, the wait is almost over and this time, we're getting the full experience on the IMAX screen!

Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie: Walpurgisnacht: Rising has officially confirmed that it will receive IMAX screenings in Japan starting August 28, the same day the highly anticipated film opens in theaters.

And for longtime fans, there's even more reason to be excited: the movie is bringing back much of the creative team behind the original Madoka Magica series and films. That includes Magica Quartet, director Akiyuki Simbo, writer Gen Urobuchi, character designer Ume Aoki, composer Yuki Kajiura, and animation studio SHAFT.

The film serves as the official sequel to Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie Part 3: Rebellion, so if you've been waiting to see what happens next after Rebellion... well, let's just say we're expecting things to get VERY complicated.

The road to this movie hasn't exactly been a smooth one either. Walpurgisnacht: Rising has faced several delays over the years, with the most recent postponement moving its release from February to August.

But now we finally have a date.

Our take: Madoka Magica is already known for its stunning visuals, emotional storytelling, and moments that leave you staring at the screen wondering what you just witnessed. Seeing this next chapter on IMAX sounds like the perfect way to experience it. Just remember to bring your emotional support blanket.

To Love-Ru is officially celebrating its 20th anniversary, and fans are getting a brand-new story to mark the occasion!

The beloved manga from Saki Hasemi and Kentarō Yabuki will return with a 25-page one-shot in the upcoming summer issue of Jump Giga, which hits shelves in Japan on August 17. Even better, the special chapter will feature a color opening page!

For longtime anime and manga fans, To Love-Ru needs very little introduction. The original series debuted back in 2006, following Rito Yuuki's already-complicated life after he unexpectedly crosses paths with the alien princess Lala Satalin Deviluke. What follows is a whole lot of romance, comedy, aliens, misunderstandings... and absolute chaos.

The franchise eventually continued with To LOVEru DARKNESS, which ran from 2010 until 2017, along with multiple anime seasons and OVAs.

And because apparently one anniversary isn't enough, Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs is also getting a new one-shot to celebrate its 10th anniversary!

Our take: There's something really special about seeing older manga return for anniversary celebrations. Whether To Love-Ru was one of your childhood favorites or you simply remember it from the golden days of 2000s anime, this is a pretty fun surprise. Twenty years later, and Rito still can't catch a break!

Digimon fans, it's time to get those old Digivices ready!

The Digimon franchise is officially getting a brand-new anime project in 2027, giving fans another adventure to look forward to as the series continues its massive 30th anniversary celebration!

While we don't have many details about the new project just yet, the announcement alone is enough to get us excited. After all, Digimon has been part of anime fans' lives for decades, with everything beginning with the original Digimon Adventure series back in 1999.

And the anniversary celebrations aren't stopping there!

Starting October 4, Fuji TV will begin airing a special collection of fan-favorite episodes from the first four Digimon anime series. The episodes were chosen through votes from fans around the world, which means we'll get to see which adventures have stuck with the Digimon community all these years later.

And yes, we're already wondering which episodes made the cut.

Meanwhile, DIGIMON BEATBREAK is currently continuing its own story, with Crunchyroll streaming the series as it airs along with an English dub.

Our take: There's something incredibly nostalgic about Digimon. Whether you grew up watching Tai and Agumon, followed Davis and the gang, explored the Digital World with the Frontier crew, or discovered the franchise much later, there's a good chance Digimon holds a special place in your heart. A brand-new anime in 2027 feels like the perfect way to keep that adventure going.

My Hero Academia may have officially wrapped up its main story, but we're still getting little surprises from the world of heroes!

Creator Kōhei Horikoshi celebrated the Japanese release of the new short anime My Hero Academia: I am a hero too with a brand-new illustration featuring a teenage Eri alongside some familiar faces, including Momo, Jiro, Tokoyami, Bakugo, and Kaminari.

And Eri isn't just hanging out with Class 1-A! This time, she's chasing a dream of her own: music!

The short also gives fans a glimpse at what life looks like after the main story, revealing that Deku has returned to working as a hero while also continuing his career as a teacher.

Honestly, seeing these characters again in a new chapter of their lives is pretty emotional. We've watched them grow from students just beginning their hero journeys into the people they're becoming now, and getting these little snapshots of their futures is such a fun way to keep the world alive.

I am a hero too is the second short anime based on one of Horikoshi's My Hero Academia manga shorts, following "More," which featured an adult Deku and premiered earlier this year. Both shorts are part of the franchise's 10th anniversary celebration.

Our take: We're always going to be soft for My Hero Academia, and seeing Eri growing into her own person is honestly one of those little details that hits you right in the feels. After everything she's been through, watching her pursue something she loves is exactly the kind of happy ending we wanted for her.
