Black Clover has officially entered Fortnite Battle Royale just in time for the annual Fortnitemares event. Asta, Yuno, and Noelle are now available as player skins, along with themed accessories including their Grimoires, weapons, pickaxes, and an Anti-Magic weapon wrap. Players can even add a Nissan GT-R Nismo featuring Black Clover branding to their collection, complete with Anti-Magic tires. The collaboration arrives alongside the return of the Black Clover anime, with Studio Pierrot back to animate the new season and Crunchyroll streaming the episodes.
Black Clover already has plenty of magic, weapons, transformations, and characters that feel right at home in a game like Fortnite, so seeing Asta, Yuno, and Noelle running around the Island is pretty great. And with the anime finally back at the same time, it feels like Black Clover is having a very good week. Now we just need to know how long it takes before someone starts yelling “ASTA!” across the Fortnite lobby.

Toyota Recreates Initial D's Famous Water Cup Drift!

Toyota is taking Initial D off the page and onto the test track. To celebrate the unofficial Tofu Day on October 2, Toyota partnered with the iconic street-racing series to recreate one of Takumi Fujiwara's most recognizable driving techniques. Toyota driver Keizō Katō took an AE86 Corolla Levin around a company test course while keeping a cup of water from spilling, just like Takumi famously does in the series. The video also mixes in sound effects and manga panels from Initial D, making the real-life recreation feel like a scene straight out of the anime.
This is exactly the kind of anime-and-real-life crossover we love to see. Anyone who has watched Initial D knows that little cup of water is basically legendary, so seeing Toyota actually recreate the moment with an AE86 is such a fun nod to the series. And the fact that they did it for Tofu Day makes it even better. We have to give Toyota credit for understanding exactly what Initial D fans would want to see!

The Record of a Fallen Vampire Gets Anime in 2027!

Kyo Shirodaira and Yuri Kimura's The Record of a Fallen Vampire (Vampire Jūjikai) is finally getting a TV anime adaptation in 2027. The announcement revealed a teaser video, visual, and the main cast and staff, with Mankyū directing at Zero-G and Liber and Frieren: Beyond Journey's End composer Evan Call handling the music. The story follows Vampire King Akabara “Red Rose” Strauss, who has spent thousands of years searching for his sealed-away queen while being hunted by vampires and the mysterious Black Swan, a human girl who reincarnates every 50 years with the power to destroy them both. Originally serialized from 2003 to 2007, the manga's ninth and final volume was released in 2007. Even more interestingly, a new manga in the series, The Record of a Fallen Vampire: A Dog's Song for Dogs, launches October 9.
Now this is a comeback we didn't see coming. A manga that finished nearly two decades ago suddenly getting a full anime adaptation is pretty exciting, especially with a story built around an ancient vampire king, an immortal search, and a mysterious enemy who keeps reincarnating. And with Evan Call handling the music, we're particularly curious to see what kind of atmosphere the anime creates. We're always happy when older manga get a chance to reach a whole new audience, and this one definitely has our attention.

Yoshihiro Togashi Plans to Limit Outside Work!

Hunter x Hunter creator Yoshihiro Togashi has announced that he plans to limit his future work due to physical and mental health issues. In a post on X, Togashi said that after completing his current commissions, he will decline future work requests with deadlines so he can focus on his own manuscripts. The announcement comes shortly after Hunter x Hunter returned to hiatus on September 7 following a brief serialization run. The manga currently stands at Chapter 420, although Togashi has since shared that he completed the manuscript for Chapter 428. The series' 39th volume was released in July, the first new volume in 22 months, and Hunter x Hunter has now surpassed 100 million copies in circulation, including digital editions.
For Hunter x Hunter fans, they’d obviously love to see more chapters as soon as possible, but we're also glad to see Togashi making space for his own health and creative work. This is a series that has meant a lot to fans for decades, and knowing that he's continuing to work on his own manuscripts is encouraging. We'll wait for Hunter x Hunter. At this point, we'd much rather see Togashi work at a pace that's sustainable for him than push himself beyond what his health allows.
Overlord [Shin] Sekai-hen Manga Goes on Hiatus!

Overlord [Shin] Sekai-hen (Overlord [New] World Arc) is going on hiatus after artist Matsuki revealed that they have been hospitalized and need time to recover and rest. The manga debuted in Kadokawa's Comp Ace magazine in April 2024, with its fourth compiled volume released in March. The series continues the story from the previous Overlord manga adaptation, picking up around the middle of the 10th volume as Ainz has defeated the forces at the Katze Plains and established his own magical nation. No return date has been announced.
Health comes first, so while we're definitely going to miss having Overlord continue, we're glad Matsuki is taking the time they need to recover. Overlord has built such a massive world around Ainz and Nazarick that there's plenty for fans to revisit while we wait. Hopefully Matsuki can get the rest they need and return when they're ready!
Recipe Of The Week!
🍙ONIGIRI🍙

Forget ramen. Forget instant noodles. Today, we’re entering the RICE BALL ARC!
If you’ve ever watched an anime and thought, “Wait… why does that little triangle of rice look WAY more delicious than anything in my kitchen?” this one’s for you.
We’re talking ONIGIRI: the humble Japanese rice ball that has somehow become an absolute MVP of anime food.
What You'll Need
Serves: 6 onigiris
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
2 cups Japanese short-grain rice
2½ cups water
1 tsp salt
1 can tuna, drained
2 tbsp mayonnaise
1 tsp soy sauce
1–2 sheets nori (seaweed)
Optional: sesame seeds, furikake, or pickled ginger
🍙 Instructions
Cook the rice: Rinse the rice until the water is mostly clear. Cook with the water according to your rice cooker's instructions. Let it cool until comfortable to handle.
Make the filling: Mix tuna, mayonnaise, and soy sauce in a bowl.
Season your hands: Wet your hands with water and rub a little salt onto your palms.
Shape: Take a handful of warm rice, make a small indentation, and add about 1 tablespoon of tuna filling.
Seal: Cover the filling with more rice and gently form it into a triangle or ball. Don't compact it too aggressively! You want fluffy rice.
Wrap: Add a strip of nori around the bottom or wrap the whole onigiri.
Finish: Sprinkle with sesame seeds or furikake if you like.
Villager Tip
Make several different fillings! Tuna-mayo, salmon, even ground chicken and arrange them on a plate with the nori like a little bento spread.
Also, don’t pack the rice too tightly! Think of onigiri like an anime power-up: strong enough to hold together, but still soft and fluffy on the inside. Gentle hands = elite-tier onigiri.
Anime Connection
Remember those classic Pokémon adventures? Brock famously serves up rice balls during the gang’s travels, although if you grew up watching the English dub, you may remember them being hilariously called “jelly-filled donuts.” The animation, however, very much showed what they really were: delicious little onigiri.
And then there’s Fruits Basket, where onigiri aren't just food, they actually become part of the story. Tohru makes onigiri for the Sohmas, and the rice ball becomes a recurring symbol connected to her character. There are even adorable cat-shaped onigiri involved!
Until next week's recipe, villagers!
