Bilibili is making a bigger push into the international anime streaming market, giving fans another option alongside services like Crunchyroll and Netflix. One of the platform's biggest draws is its free ad-supported library, with paid plans offering access to additional content. Bilibili's catalog includes popular anime such as Solo Leveling, Jujutsu Kaisen, Re:Zero, Hunter x Hunter, and Black Clover, along with a large selection of Chinese animation, or donghua, and user-created videos. The service is expanding its international app availability, although the exact lineup can vary by country because of licensing agreements.

More competition in anime streaming is something we're always interested in watching. Bilibili isn't simply trying to copy Crunchyroll, it combines licensed anime with the broader video and community features the platform is already known for. For fans who don't want another monthly subscription, having a legitimate free option with a growing anime catalog could make Bilibili worth checking out. The big question now is how much its international library can continue to grow.

Michael B. Jordan May Be Bringing His Anime Obsession to Life!

Michael B. Jordan may be taking his love of anime from inspiration to production. In a new Vogue cover story for its October 2026 issue, Jordan revealed that he currently has several anime projects in the early stages of development. He even joked that he might “quit it all and make anime the rest of my life,” with Vogue noting that he was only half-joking. This isn't exactly a new obsession for the actor, he has previously talked about drawing inspiration from series including Hajime no Ippo, Megalobox, Naruto, One Piece, My Hero Academia, and Dragon Ball Z while developing the fight scenes for Creed III. For now, the new projects have no announced titles, teams, or release dates.

THIS is the kind of celebrity anime obsession I can get behind! Michael B. Jordan has been talking about anime for years, and you can genuinely see those influences in his work, so the idea of him actually helping create anime is pretty exciting. We have absolutely no idea what these projects will look like yet, but if Jordan gets to bring the same passion he has for these series into an original anime project, we're very curious to see what comes out of it. For now, we're just going to be over here wondering what kind of anime Michael B. Jordan would make!

Goodbye, Lara Anime Gets Manga Adaptation!

Kinema Citrus' original anime Goodbye, Lara (Sayonara Lara) is getting a manga adaptation. The series' official account announced that the manga will be created by Saburouta, best known as the creator of Citrus, and will begin serialization on Kadokawa's KadoComi manga platform in October. The adaptation gives fans another way to experience the story while expanding the world of the original anime!

This one has me genuinely excited. There's something especially fun about watching an original anime grow beyond the screen and get a manga of its own, because it gives fans another chance to explore a story that didn't start with an existing source material. And with Saburouta taking on the manga, we're very curious to see what this new version brings to Goodbye, Lara.

We're definitely keeping this one on our radar for October!

Daemons of the Shadow Realm Season 2 Announced!

Daemons of the Shadow Realm is officially coming back for a second season. Following the broadcast of the anime's 24th and final episode in Japan, the official website and social media accounts confirmed that Season 2 is now in production! There is no release date yet, but fans didn't have to leave empty-handed, a new teaser video and visual were released alongside the announcement, offering a first glimpse at what's ahead for Yuru and Asa.

I'm always happy when a season finale comes with a little extra good news, and getting confirmation of Season 2 right after the final episode is a pretty great way to end the first season. Yuru and Asa still have plenty of story left to explore, so we're definitely curious to see where the anime takes them next. Now comes the hardest part: waiting for that release date!

From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Gets Season 3!

From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman is officially getting a third season. The announcement came just after the broadcast of the second season's 12th and final episode in Japan, with the anime's official website revealing a new visual along with a video message from Hiroaki Hirata, the voice of protagonist Beryl Gardenant. No release date has been announced yet, but the confirmation means Beryl's journey as a supposedly ordinary countryside sword instructor and the increasingly impressive students who refuse to let him stay under the radar isn't over just yet.

Beryl really can't catch a break from people realizing just how ridiculously talented he is, and honestly, I'm not complaining. There's something incredibly satisfying about watching this humble old country swordsman constantly underestimate himself while everyone around him knows exactly how skilled he is. So, I'm definitely ready to see what kind of trouble and sword fights Season 3 has waiting for him!

Recipe Of The Week!

Tamago Sando

Japanese Egg Salad Sandwich

Sometimes the simplest foods are the ones that feel the most comforting.

If you've watched enough anime, you've probably noticed the humble egg sandwich making an appearance here and there. In Japan, tamago sando is a beloved convenience-store and everyday snack: soft, fluffy bread wrapped around a creamy egg filling. It's simple, comforting, and surprisingly delicious.

One of our favorite anime connections comes from The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House. Sumire dreams of having the little sandwiches after becoming a maiko, and Kiyo eventually makes her a delicate batch of egg sandwiches. The sandwiches are cut into small pieces so they can be enjoyed without disturbing Sumire's makeup.

And if you're a Your Lie in April fan, you may recognize another egg-sandwich moment: an egg sandwich appears in Episode 19, where Arima offers one to Emi and Takeshi.

What You'll Need

  • Serves: 2 sandwiches

  • Prep Time: 10 minutes

  • Cook Time: 15 minutes

  • 3 large eggs

  • 2 tablespoons Japanese Kewpie mayonnaise

  • 2 teaspoons milk

  • ¼ teaspoon sugar

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper

  • 4 slices Japanese milk bread (shokupan), if available

  • Softened salted butter

Don't worry if you can't find shokupan. Soft, thick white sandwich bread works perfectly well as a substitute. The combination of soft bread and creamy egg filling is what gives tamago sando its signature texture.

🍳 Let's Make It!

  1. Boil the eggs.
Place the three eggs in a saucepan and cover them with about an inch of water. Bring the water to a boil, then cook the eggs for 12 minutes.

  2. Cool them down.
Immediately transfer the eggs into a bowl of ice water. Let them cool completely before peeling. This also helps stop the eggs from continuing to cook.

  3. Make the filling.
Place the peeled eggs into a bowl and mash them gently with a fork. You want small pieces of egg white rather than completely smooth eggs.

  4. Add the sugar, salt, black pepper, milk, and Kewpie mayonnaise. Mix everything together until creamy.

Give it a taste and add a tiny bit more salt or pepper if needed.

  5. Butter the bread.
Spread a thin layer of softened butter over one side of each slice of bread. The butter adds flavor and also helps keep the bread from becoming soggy.

  6. Fill the sandwiches.
Divide the egg mixture between two slices of bread and spread it evenly. Place the remaining slices on top.

  7. Give them the anime treatment.
For the classic Japanese convenience-store look, gently press the sandwiches together, then trim away the crusts.

Cut each sandwich in half diagonally for the traditional triangle shape. Or, if you're going for the Makanai-inspired presentation, cut them into small, neat bite-sized squares.

Villager Tip

Want that extra-creamy Japanese convenience-store texture? Don't completely pulverize your eggs. Leave tiny pieces of egg white throughout the filling while letting the yolks blend into the mayonnaise. And if you can find Japanese milk bread, definitely give it a try, the soft, pillowy texture is one of the things that makes tamago sando so special.

Anime Connection

The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House is practically made for an anime-food feature because cooking isn't just decoration in the series, it is woven into the characters' everyday lives. The tamago sando is especially sweet because it comes from a request between friends and becomes part of Sumire's special moment as she becomes a maiko.

And Your Lie in April gives us another memorable egg-sandwich appearance, making this one of those foods that quietly pops up across anime without needing to be a fantastical dish.

So this week's mission, Villagers: grab some eggs, find yourself some fluffy bread, and make your own little piece of anime comfort food.

Until next week's recipe, villagers!
